Tak through the local's lens: TakeMeTour's Review

Tak bridges Central and Northern Thailand together and also shares its Western border with Myanmar. Sitting more to the West, most travelers opt for a more straight route up north and skip this beautiful hidden gem of Thailand’s largest waterfall, lush national park and stunning cave. Find local-recommended things to do in Tak here.

Mae Ou Su Cave

This huge limestone cave is listed in the iconic Unseen Thailand list, and rightly so. With a small river snaking from the entrance all the way through the exit, then making its way into a larger river, Mae Ou Su is downright unique. It’s noteworthy that the cave is inaccessible during the rainy season, where the water will be too high. Inside, countless stalagmites and stalactites as well as families of bats definitely make a visit here worth your while.

Trok Ban Chin

If you love learning about the history of each place through its old architecture, Trok Ban Chin might just win your heart. Literally ‘Alley of Chinese Houses’, the area flaunts rows of beautiful traditional Thai-Chinese houses. Just like other former Thai-Chinese communities, the area used to see its daily dose of trading buzz. Today, the alley’s claim to fame is rather its nostalgic vibes and iconic buildings.

Thilawsu Waterfall

Ranked Thailand’s biggest waterfall, Thilawsu doesn’t disappoint with its 200-metre high and 400-metre wide streams. Come here after the rainy season (November-December are the best months) for various sizes of natural pools that are perfect for everyone.
