Tour the Maeklong Railway Market, Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and Elephant Camp
Damnoen Saduak is one of the most famous floating markets in Thailand. Have you ever seen a traditional Thai house in the countryside before? We will visit the local community, old temple and study of boiling sugar.
Why this trip?
If you're in Bangkok and would like to spend a day exploring local cultures in this small town nearby this trip will be your perfect fit.
Things to prepare for the trip
Meet up at our meeting point
- Airport (Don Mueang International Airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport)
- BTS Station (Bang Na)
- Hotel Pickup (Hotel Pickup in Bangkok Area)
Reach our first stop at "Umbrella Train Market", the fresh market where meats, vegetables, and fruits are sold right by the railway and the shoppers need to walk on a 1 meter wide railway. The train will pass through the market at 8.30 in the morning.
Visit Damnoen Saduak floating market and take a long-tailed boat along the canal to observe the local liveliness of the market. See the traditional Thai home style, buy fruits or food in the boat.
Ride a long-tailed boat in the canal to see the nature, local living and traditional sugar-making.
We will go to the Elephant camp. Here you can feed the elephants (elephants meal is included in the trip.) If you want to ride an elephant, you have to pay 600 baht for 30 minutes ride.
Visit some temples (depend on how much time you take to walk around each temple)
Return to Bangkok.

Everything was good
Had a great time with Arnon and his girlfriend. I chose to skip the elephant ride as you never know if the elephants are treated badly but the rest of the tour was fantastic. Got to see some beautiful temples and I loved the floating market. Arnon also provided drinks and some great dessert snacks and took me to a fun restaurant. As a solo traveller I felt very relaxed and at ease. My only one minor comment is that I am relatively tall so sitting in the back of the car was a little uncomfortable. I only mention this so Arnon might consider this for future guests.
Great trip, so much to see!
The tour was great! We loved the railway market and taking the boat along the canal and exploring the memorial garden museums (even though we were so hot!) lunch was delicious boat noodles in a traditional spot in the floating markets. Arnon was so generous and kind and friendly, would have loved a bit more explanation about what we were seeing but still very interesting and a good time for our big group of 6.
