A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Angkor Archaeological Park is where you will find the greatest monuments of Cambodia standing the test of time. Spanning about 400 square kilometres, the area is home to iconic Angkor temples and various capital cities of the Khmer Empire from the 9th to 15th century.
The temples are divided into groups to explore. Typically, the Grand and Small Circuit are the most popular options, covering the major temples such as Angkor Wat, Bayon, Ta Prohm, Preah Khan and Ta Som. More remote temples include those in the Rolous Group, and the elegant Banteay Srei.
To explore temples and sites in the Angkor Archaeological Park, you will need to buy an admission pass, also called the ‘Angkor Pass’. You can select from a one-day pass ($37), a three-day pass ($62) and a seven-day pass ($72). Tickets can be bought from the Angkor Park Pass Ticket Counters from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Note that if you want to buy the Angkor Pass for the next day, you have to do so after 5:00 PM of the day you’re buying.
A few sites are not included in the admission pass and have their own entrance fee, including Phnom Kulen ($20), Koh Ker ($10) and Beng Mealea ($5).
If you want to see some of the best highlights Cambodia has to offer, then exploring the temples is the right choice. The grandeur of the temples and history of the Khmer Empire are sure to enrapture your mind.
