Traveling anywhere without shopping or buying some local products from that country might make you feel like you haven’t truly arrived there. If you want various kinds of souvenirs, you don’t need to buy it in many places. We are going to introduce you to a huge market in the middle of Bangkok where many products are sold!
This very market is called Sampeng Market, and it sells almost every kind of products whether it be gift shops, decorations, handicrafts, clothes, jewelry, stationery, shoes, and bags. Most of the products sold here have low prices, but in good condition, if you spend a bit of time looking. Many shops in this market offer you a better deal if you buy more than 3 products. So, you can enjoy shopping here all day long.
If you shop at Sampeng, you’ll probably not miss visiting the nearby biggest textile market (Phahurat), and Chinatown. The easiest way to visit Sampeng is by taking the subway to MRT Wat Mangkon Station. Then, take exit 1, and you will be at Yaowarat Road. You can start walking here from Yaowarat Road to Sampeng Market, Phahurat (Little India), and Klongthom (another wholesale market) from many routes. This area is one of the most important economic areas in Bangkok.
Sampeng Market is open daily from 07.00 AM – 05.00 PM for both retail and wholesale. The night market will open from 02.00 AM – 06.00 AM daily except Mondays for the only retail and second-hand products. You can buy anything here anytime when you feel like it.
Caution: You might not be able to stop shopping!
