Wat Chaiyathararam Temple, or Wat Chalong as locals call it, is the famous sacred temple in Phuket. Located at Chalong Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phuket Province. Construction began in the middle of the reign of King Rama 3. It is approximately 150 years old, making it one of the oldest landmarks in Phuket.
If you go up to the top of the Wat Chalong’s pagoda and down, you will see a beautiful view of Phuket and several locals paying respect to Reverend Father Cham, the former abbot of this temple. Although Luang Por Cham has passed away for hundreds of years, his reputation stretches as far as Penang, Malaysia, causing many tourists from all over to come and see the beauty of the temple and pay respect to the statue of Luang Por Cham.
