Chiang Mai is an interesting destination for many people. It is well-known as a city of art and culture that has a long tradition. This is why we will introduce Wat Pha Lat, one of Chiang Mai’s most interesting landmarks for you to know!

Wat Pha Lat is located on the same route as Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, which is one of the most well-known symbols of Chiang Mai. Of course, almost everyone has to go to this landmark when in Chiang Mai! Before arriving at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, there is a temple in the middle of the valley that is beautiful and hidden. That very temple is Wat Pha Lat. Thus, we recommend to stop and walk in to see the beauty of this temple first. When you walk into the temple area, you will feel comfortable with the fair weather and the beauty of nature around it. Besides the old trees, the temple also has a waterfall called Pha Lat in the same area!

Let's talk about the history of this temple. Wat Pha Lat is 1 of the 3 “forest temples” in Doi Suthep National Park, lasting for more than 500 - 645 years. Most people come to pay respect to the monks, see nature, and practice Buddhism. We advise you meditate here because when you close your eyes, the sounds of wind, birds, wildlife and waterfalls will make peace for you. The art in this temple were all built during the period of Kruba Srivichai, which was during the 1900’s. The artist that created them all was from Burma, making the art here in Burmese style.
