Going strong for half a century, Pu Ja Tha Chalaeb is a paradise for not only seafood lovers but all foodies. While the current manager is Khun Wisa, her 82-year-old mother, who’s also the founder of the restaurant, is still happy to help run the kitchen to ensure great original tastes. In addition to oceanfresh seafood, Khun Wisa, her mother, and all the local chefs expertly cook up diverse delights using Chanthaburi’s signature ingredients.

Take for example Stir-Fried Rice Noodles with Crab Meat. The especially chewy rice noodles are actually called Sen Chan in Thai, hinting its origin in Chanthaburi. Pu Ja Tha Chalaeb also serves up Crab Roe Dip, one of the best crab delights you’ll find in this seaside city. Then there’s Moo Chamuang. Flavored with chamuang or cowa leaves, the Chanthaburi’s local curry is uniquely and pleasantly sour.
