Book a Trip to This Restaurant
Even the name of this nearly four-decade-old restaurant is an ear catcher. Khua is the shortened version of Khun Wattanawong the owner’s childhood nickname ‘Chui Khua’ in Teochew dialect—literally (crying) wide mouth. Hinted by its name, the restaurant specializes in home-style Thai-Chinese food.
Before starting their own restaurant, Khun Muay (Khun Wattanawong’s wife) had years of experience from both watching and helping her older brother (who founded a classic well-known restaurant in Suphan Buri) in the kitchen. According to Khun Muay, her hometown Suphan Buri is a peaceful drive-by town. For a restaurant to not only survive but also grow, quality-inspired word of mouth is the ultimate answer. The tastes of Khua’s delights as well as the restaurant’s catchy name are sure working well.
What also marks Khua as remarkable is, despite gaining more and more customers over the years, they stick to their humble root: a family-run, ordinary-looking seven-table restaurant. Today, the two owners are still dishing up every order by themselves.
