Why this trip?

At the Elephant Valley Project, the first ethical sanctuary in Mondulkiri, rescued elephants are given care and freedom to live as close to their natural ways as possible. Therefore, riding or bathing the elephants is not practiced at the sancturary. Your visits would also help fund forest conservation efforts and the local community's livelihood.

Things to prepare for the trip

- It must be noted visiting the Elephant Valley Project requires a moderate to high level of physical fitness. You are trekking out into 1,500 hectares of beautiful forest to find the elephants, therefore there is a lot of hiking (5 - 7km per day) on difficult terrain and you need to be prepared accordingly. - Please bring sufficient water (at least one litre) for trekking in the forest for the whole morning. You can refill your bottle at base camp at lunch time. You might also need sunscreen, a hat, mosquito repellent, a rain jacket etc. - Please wear appropriate jungle trekking attire, e.g. long pants/long shorts and a t-shirt. Please no short shorts, crop tops, or visible cleavage so as to be culturally sensitive to our local Bunong staff. - Please wear appropriate footwear (boots or runners). Flip-flops are not suited to hiking in the forest. - Tours operate rain or shine. Please plan accordingly with waterproofing for your electronics and proper rain gear and footwear.
