Explore Doi Inthanon & Mae Ya Waterfall to See Sunrise at the Highest Spot in Thailand!

Kanda/ Lin was amazing! She was very communicative and sent helpful reminders before the trip in order to make sure we were adequately prepared. She also showed up exactly on time to pick us up before the sunrise. Unfortunately, due to it being a holiday weekend, there was an unprecedented amount of traffic on the way up to the mountain and we missed the sunrise. However, Lin did everything in her power to get us there. She got out of the car and jogged alongside it in the cold trying to flag down motorcycle riders who would be willing to take two foreign strangers up to the top. The rest of the trip was also fantastic. The hike through the Kew Mae Pan was beautiful, and the waterfalls were indescribably beautiful- even in dry season! The one recommendation I would make is that for the lunch break, not to default to the safe “foreigners” menu. I saw lots of local Thai people eating exotic foods from the same restaurant, but we were served pretty ordinary and much less exciting menu options. Honestly, I wasn’t even expecting lunch to be provided, so I was pleasantly surprised provided to be provided food. However, we LOVE strong flavors and spicy food, so it was a little disheartening to receive something that was so uninspired when there were more exciting options to be consumed! Nothing we were served tasted bad; they were just a little boring for people who don’t prefer playing it “safe” with our tastebuds. Otherwise, it was a perfect trip, and Lin was a very friendly and warm-hearted tour guide with great English skills! I highly recommend her tour! (>^ω^<)

We booked this the day before we left for Thailand, and boy were we glad we did! Kanda (aka Lin) was the sweetest and coolest person to hang out for the day. The day went as listed on the itinerary. Lin arrived with her husband, Non, who drives to all of the locations. They provided breakfast (pork bun and egg bun for my vegetarian friend). Since the drive to the sunrise view was about an hour away, we were able to take a nap. They provided these extremely comfortable neck pillows which I am now going to buy for myself, haha! When we arrived at the sunrise point at about 6am, there was already a lot of people there. Don’t worry, Lin will help you find a good spot to take photos. Also, be sure to bring a jacket as it will be colder than you expect. I’m from New York, so I thought 50 Fahrenheit wouldn’t be that cold. I was wrong! Luckily, Lin had an extra jacket in her car. Such a lifesaver! The main reason we booked this tour is that it’s the only private tour that starts early enough to catch the sunrise at Kew Mae Pan. A bonus for starting early is that you can be a stop ahead of the big horde of tourist groups.

This tour is a must do if you’re in Chiang Mai. It was easily our favorite part of our Thailand vacation. Lin is informative, knowledgeable, patient, and additionally really funny (ask her about her cats)! She truly has your best interest at heart and ensures you enjoy yourself. I wish I could write more about our experience, but I don’t want to make it a “too long didn’t read” situation. Thanks for the great time, Lin and Non!

Great day trip. Saw the sunrise, went on an amazing nature hike, saw 2 waterfalls and lunch. Kanda was lovely and very knowledgeable. So kind - even let me use her jacket when I was cold!
