One-Day Tour of Kanchanaburi + River Kwai + Death Railway

★★★★★★★★★★

5.0

The trip was very well organised. We were collected from our hotel and or driver was already waiting for us when we got to the doors. We were driven to a meeting point where we were all given different coloured stickers and these were to enable our guides to know which buses to direct us to. It was all very well organised and not at all chaotic as had been suggested in other reviews.

On arrival at the Bridge over the river Kwai we had 1 hour to take photos and visit the Jeath Museum and this was ample time. Then we caught the train for a ride on the Death Railway. We did pay the extra for the guaranteed seats and we were glad we did because the train seemed very busy. After the train ride we were taken for lunch at a floating restaurant. I'm vegetarian and there was plenty of choice and it was delicious. Next was a visit to a waterfall and here's where my tiny gripe comes in because we were given an hour here and 20 minutes really would have sufficed so we found ourselves waiting in the hot sun for over 30 minutes for the time to pass. We were then taken to the War Cemetery where we had just 15 minutes and really could have done with at least 45 minutes. Finally, we climbed back into our minibus for the long drive back to our hotel.

This tour was incredibly good value for money but be prepared to spend a lot of time in the minibus. Our guide, Apple, was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful and friendly.

Thank you for a wonderful day.

One-Day Tour of Kanchanaburi + River Kwai + Death Railway

★★★★★★★★★★

3.0

Overall very happy with the tour. We covered a lot of ground and

A few comments, it would have been good to receive more background history perhaps supplied on the bus on the way to Kanchenabri, possibly by recording if not by person.

The main person on the ground in Kanchenaburi was certainly very efficient but didn't convey the friendliness and charm one associates with Thais. Her assistants were very good.
