River Kwai, JEATH Museum and War Cemetery

Pleasant buffet lunch by the river. The museum was interesting and it was good to see the ongoing high level maintenance of the war cemetery to honour those that died.

Great

Overall is great especially the tour guide. The only cons is no curtain in the van bus... It's hot during the way back to Bangkok...

Mixed feelings about this trip

You can take the 'joined tour' quite literal: there were several people all visiting their own combination of sites in and around Kanchanaburi. All of us got a different colour sticker so the guide knew where each group was going and on which busses they needed to go. We were also constantly with other people on the bus. At the beginning it was all a bit chaotic.

The guide was there to 'guide' the people on the right busses, not for giving explanation about the sites. She was alsopretty hard to understand at times.

Most of the sites we visited were worthwhile, only a shame that we had to pay an additional fee to get seats on the train. This is something the company should ask before the start of the trip and this price should be included in the fee.

All in all, beautiful scenery and well-worth the visit, but if you want to learn more about the history of the area, you're better off with a private trip and a guide that knows the region.
